Permalink Tabs, etc. for Fallout, by Aston Martin and the Moon Discs

New Topic

As suggested in another thread (https://surfguitar101.com/forums/topic/34596/?page=1#p451314), I’ve uploaded score, tabs, and a backing track for Fallout by Aston Martin and the Moon Discs (https://surfguitar101.com/downloads/details/924/ and https://surfguitar101.com/downloads/details/923/). In case anyone uses MuseScore, the .mscz file is at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1e7p4sniUyF4_zDi6utT-jWIxhU9CJzUV.

I previously described the song and the band briefly in this thread (https://surfguitar101.com/forums/topic/7786/?page=241#p450619). I recognize that this is a little-known song, but it is really great, and it’s fun to play, so I hope some here will give it a listen and play it.

Here are some comments on the score and tab. I didn’t note dynamics of the original in the score, like slides, staccato and muting. Also, the playing is a little different in repeats of sections, and those differences aren’t captured. Listen to the original, and it will all make sense. I believe the notes are right, and the tab reflects where I play the notes, but you may find it plays better for you on different strings. Finally, I added one and a half measures prior to the final Am chord: this just seemed to me a better way to end it.

It was an interesting exercise tabbing this out. I did pick up a couple of places where my original notes on the song were wrong, so that was helpful. The hardest part was getting the timing of notes right. Not counting the time it took to learn the software, I’d say I spent 2 hours doing the tabs.

I’ll probably do this again at least once more. Next time, I’ll pick a song that is more popular and where tabs don’t exist elsewhere, like in the tabs section here or sites like www.ultimate-guitar.com.

If I'd stop buying old guitars to fix, I might actually learn to play.
Bringing instruments back to life since 2013.

2018 I released my CD "Da Capo" with a cover version of "Fallout" as opener (track 1)
