I picked up 3 CD's in a compilation set called the birth of surf. It's giving me an introduction to surf and precursor instrumentals. I know there is a TON more material available that spans that time period, and there's a discussion on this forum from 2008 covering first wave surf compilations (looks like I need to expand my horizons!). However - I'm looking for some compilation CDs that cover newer groups. I really like The Insect Surfers, Messur Chups, Man or Astroman, Johnny and the Pool Boys - and well, just a whole lot more. Any recommended compilation CDs covering newer groups from the 80's until now?
Are there compilation sets out that cover newer material?

I recommend this one, even though my band is on it...

Also, get the double crown records surf fanzine, it comes with a CD filled with new tracks.
Also also, we live in an age of streaming music. You can find tons of modern surf music on bandcamp.com, spotify, youtube, etc... Then there's the most excellent radio show Fiberglass Jungle on luxuriamusic.com. There are downloadable podcasts of the show for free. Finally, there's 24/7 radio station called North Sea Surf Radio, plays all eras of surf music.

Where can I find a copy of That’s New, Pussycat?
More than any other record this intrigues me. I’m a big fan of Burt and have been playing his tunes on guitar since I was a kid. Pussycat is one of my faves.

Wow! That is great! Thanks for the list, that will keep me busy for a long time! I have to start going in to the office again, 2 to 3 days a week - and figure I'd better load up on some music. I've got all the "Day at the Beach" podcasts and figured I'd grab "Fiberglass Jungle" podcasts as well - adding in some CDs ripped to MP3 (or just going to bandcamp) will help round it out.

You could go Discogs from Europe for just under $50 (including shipping) or the Amazon used market for $95.

IMO the first two posts nailed it if you want something very recent and great. Brave New Surf is more diverse, Monsters of Surf is more aggressive.
