Time for an amp upgrade. My old brown face Fender needs to stay home or only go to the studio. Deluxe Reverb is fine for small rooms but I need something that can get it elsewhere. What about Quilters?

After being a Fender amp user exclusively since literally the 1960s, I switched to a Quilter Mach 2 Micro Pro last year, and my Showman amps have stayed home ever since. In the "Downloads" link, go to the third page of Gear Samples, and there's a recording of the Quilter in action, at a Royal Aces Denver gig. |

I've been using the 101 Mini Head with a 12" EVM-12L speaker for quite a while now. I liked it so much that I sold my Super Reverb and bought a Micro Pro Mach 2, which I also plug the EVM-12L into. Both amps are plenty loud for anything I do, I usually have them about halfway up or a tad beyond. Now I'm thinking of selling my Champ and Supro 1616T because they just sit there and their value is going up, I could use a lightweight Quilter extension cab. I let other guitarists use my amps at the open mic I host so I get to hear different people play many styles through them from clean to distortion. They always sound great and I'm hauling a lot less weight every week. I played through the prototypes years ago at SG101 conventions (including the Mother of All Miserlous against 4 or 5 Showmans)and it took me a while to finally come around but now I couldn't be happier. I have the Mini Head 101. Great amp! Here's a short clip I did with the Surfy Bear reverb. The lead is the FullQ setting, and the left and right rhythms are most likely the Surf and the Tweed settings. |

I have a micro pro 200 with an 8" speaker, just recently got the 12" extension cabinet. can't say enough good about it. especially if you have to carry your own amp! Matt Heaton & the Electric Heaters |

I have a Steelaire and MachPro2. I like the Steelaire a alot. It sounds great and is easy to use. I can set the volume low enough to play in my apartment which is a huge plus for me. My drummer is super loud and the Steelaire can keep up fine. I did have problems with the speakers though. I've had two Steelaire speakers break (aluminium dome cracked). Quilter answered and shipped out replacements quickly. Very good customer service. The latest replacement has a paper dome which so far is holding up. My MachPro2 speaker recently started sounding terrible at higher levels, not sure what is going on. — |

I've played a few and they sound alright. The weight is the best feature, IMO. Unfortunately, they just don't look cool. I know that shouldn't matter, but when a guy shows up to a gig with a fancy high tech amp it just doesn't have the visual impact of a Silverface Twin that looks like it's been dragged through the depths of Hell. Maybe Quilter should start selling reliced amps. |

I played through a Quilter Pro 200 (sat in with a player who had one). Sounded pretty good but seemed "bass" heavy to me. (could have been the setup) |
