Hey all - I have a Fender Twin '71 silverface with 2 stock Fender Oxfords 12s in it. I'm looking for recommendations for replacement speakers that have more mids and highs and much less lower end. Any suggestions?

Maybe you'll like the Jensen C12N or it's alnico brother P12N. I like these because they're bright and edgy. Some samples here: https://www.jensentone.com/tone_chart

For accentuated mids and upper frequencies, Weber Gray Wolf are great, and a great price. In an 80W 1971 twin reverb, you'd probably want a pair of 8R 75W ones, to match the 4R impedance of the OT. This would provide a good amount of power handling.
Or, for a bit more money, pair one of ^those^ above up with an Alnico Gray Wolf equivalent (also 8R 75W)

Isn't the N rated at 50w RMS? A speaker rated at 80 or 100w RMS such as the C12K or equivalent would afford better, tighter bass and less cone distortion.
I just got a 50w Eminence 121042 (similar to C12N) for a good price after much shopping, and its application is for a 14w RMS amp. I just don't want to push a speaker so hard. Better an underpowered driver (to a certain point) than one overdriven, unless you don't mind carry bass and crying comes, totally compressed distressed speaker sound. To my senses, not very surfy. Link Wray, yea.

Yes you're right, my mistake.

I get what you're all saying (and I don't know all that much about speakers), but why would Jensen list the replacement for the Oxfords with a C12N instead of the C12K?

The N and not the K is the classic, but it's not rated for such a powerful amp. I sold my Twin's SICA C12Ks because they sounded so horrid. It wasn't a matter of break-in as they were in the amp when I bought it 12 years ago. I also sold a K I found in a sweet Traynor GuitarMate purchased in Canada. I put a WGS Green Beret in that amp and it came to life. The K sounded stiff, harsh and cold to my ear.
I'd guess Eminence and WGS are making better C12Ks now than Jensen/SICA.

So, I ended up replacing them with Jensen C12Ns and it made a WORLD of difference! Now I've got much less low end, more mids and more highs. The tone is just great... it's exactly what I was looking for!

Eminence has come out with a speaker co-designed by pedal steel guitarist Paul Franklin. They can take a lot of power and stay clean. I don't know how the low end is. Pricey.
