One nice thing about being retired is that I can "play" my guitars ad- nauseam. In my opinion, wasting time playing guitar is time well spent.
I admit that I am both happy for you and jealous!

Three new ones for the next record. Working titles are:
Creep Out!
Night Surf / Square Waves from Planet 13
The Lurker (oh sh*t look out! )
...and a cover of Bedlam probably just for the live set? Hmm, might as well record it...

Gee Ivan, we really appreciate that, thanks a lot. We have been laughing our butts off over that one too. Nobody much picked up on the Album title but maybe this one will hit home.
I've been working on this angle lately that if I name a new original something off the wall, maybe the guys in the band will remember how it goes......... Or at least how it starts, what key it's in.......hell, I'm easy to get along with.
The good humor band rides again.

So I'm working on the chorus melody which is basically 2 notes (E and D, my favorites) and trying to add some variety whist keeping it recognizable and the notes start to shift about like they so often do and a half hour later it's clear it doesn't fit into the song anymore. It's its own thing ie, the seed of another song entirely.
So that's what I'm working on- I'll get back to Randy and the boys but this comes first. Couldn't be more different than it's parent song.
Not surf. Twang.

10-4 on Mr. Moto. After having the good fortune to jam on it with Paul Johnson, I try to knock it off almost every day.
It is just plain fun to play.........

FANTASTICAL! The very song that converted me to surf. Rock that wave.

That song flat out rocks!! I love the vibe. You almost feel relieved when it's over!

That & Reef Break grabbed me by the throat back when along with some Space Cossacks. One of the things I love about instro surf is that, done right, there is no slacking; if you're not running, the rest of the formation just leaves you behind. Like a sign in my buddy's bass boat, applicable for about 3 minutes:
"Get in, sit down, hold-on, and shut up!"
Errata on 'Flight...': NEVER let the drummer count this off.

With my absolutely rudimentary skill set, I'm working on the Hal Leonard Surf book right now, "Pipeline" to be exact.
The best part about this thread is that it has been 48 pages of stuff to look up and listen to I mostly wouldn't have known otherwise. Bands like Los Twang! Marvels... WOW!
Thanks for keeping this one going!
