I have no idea what they're saying, but I admire these kids' creativity... and careless disregard for potential back injury! Big Grin

Yeah, Laird's pretty good but has he ever had to do this?

There must have been some video editing, you cannot surf with a cloak.

You can if you're Batman!

I agree, the Italian Spiderman is much better.

Old punks never die... They just become surf rockers.

i surfed for a bit this afternoon. water temp 82, air temp 85. (left my batwoman cape at home. gets in the way of paddling.)

A friend who lives in the O.C. sent me this article, I thought this would be a good place to put it. Some really great history on some of surfing's most iconic brands.

Nice and icy slow. I'd give it a shot.

I think the viscosity of seawater does significantly increase as the temp drops. Don't think I will ever find out personally. Here's the forecast for my favorite Mexican spot for next week.

Looking at Noon & 3pm, is the thing that takes it from 5-stars to 3 the fact that the wind picked up? (If I'm reading the chart correctly.)

remora......i was going to share those photos too but you beat me to it. they are great shots. our water temperature here on the outer banks of NC is in the upper 30's to maybe low 40's. it's been one wicked cold winter. i'm not surfing until it gets MUCH warmer (except for a trip to mex.)

badger...to answer your question about casey's post.......the wind does come up side shore in the later morning every day, blows pretty good most of the afternoon and then dies out towards evening.

Yeah they're amazing shots. I found it fascinating how the lip is too thick to feather and there's barely any foam when it hits the trough. Looks otherworldly. Slurpee surf!

Hey Badger, as Carol said the wind does come up usually in the afternoon. The chart is from Magic Seaweed, basically they note the forecast swell quality by the number of stars, and then they decrease the shading on some of the stars to indicate less than optimal conditions, usually too much wind and/or wind from the wrong direction. If you look carefully you'll see that there are still 5 stars, but 2 of them are very light. 5 star swell, 3 star conditions due to wind.

Ah, ok, got it. I thought the light stars were just empty (like when you rate an online purchase). Cool, thanks! Smile
Magic Seaweed huh? (I used to get tangled up in that when I was kid...)
