Just nailed down Squad Car - Belairs version rather than Eddie and the Showmen and getting ready to start Albatross by Fleetwood Mac

Be at one with the universe. If you can't do that, at least be at one with your guitar.

Latinia. Trying to learn it by ear and avoid tabs. I've got the chords figured out and some of the fills, but still have a long way to go.

You guys are covering "If I Only Had A Brain" by Arlen/Harburg ?

Or "My Bucket's Got a Hole In It" ?

Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps?

I am trying to rig up an original with the tentative title "Eclipse, caused by idiots" - quite catchy, isn't it?

I had never heard this Ventures tune, and could not stop thinking that it would make a cool metal tune. So I made it one (no mistake that it's 4:20):

Inspiration has struck... I'm pleased to admit I'm writing and working on original material for the first time in two and a half years! Surf and more, I'm even writing... lyrics! Shock

Not surf but good for learning and for my hands, Sultans of Swing.

Concierto de Aranjuez by Joachin Rodrigo. Adapting the opening 'galloping' Allegro D Maj chords and the b min Adagio with the super tragic melody at this point.
Also Soviet/Russian National Hymn. Great melody!

Cool beans, and agree. A couple of galaxies or light-years ago their Army choir visited at a 4-powers function in West Berlin and it was a VERY stirring performance. No ad-libs, no nothing, just sang it straight from their center of gravity. Appropriately powerful for a national hymm.

Yeah, I want to make the expats weep. Or at least the hipsters smirk.

I've worked up a solo-guitar spy and surf medley on a '63 Jaguar at (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nA-sXyQ1C7Y)

Great song. The bass line is on my list to be done.

Working on the bass line to Shepherd of Fire by Avenged Sevenfold. In a loud, pointy guitar mood these days.

The Luau Cinders

Three at the moment, all quite different in style/approach:

1) "Hula Tikula" by Messer Chups. I just think that's the neatest sounding song I've ever heard. Very Happy And, as I'm learning more and more with each day, so much of this music is in the right-hand/picking! I never have trouble figuring out the melodies, chord progressions, overall structure, etc., but I often have to hunker down and pay attention to the picking and right-hand work on a lot of this stuff.

2) Working up an instrumental version of "After Dark" (aka "The Song Salma Hayek Dances to in 'From Dusk 'Til Dawn'"). It lends itself nicely to a tremolo/reverb/moody Chris Isaak-sounding thing (give it a listen if you've not heard it; it's all over YouTube). Having one guitar doing the B-A raking rhythm and then doing more of a reverb-y/tremolo Duane Eddy thing with the melody.

3) I stumbled upon some bands on YouTube playing a song called "Al Capone" (Java Guitars, etc.). There seems to be about 11,000 versions on iTunes, but I downloaded the one with the best overall sound. The solos all seem different, but that main harmonized lick that kicks it off (and reappears throughout the song) is just so cool/fun. And I just think it would be fun to randomly say "Al Caponnnne..." into a mic some night. Smile

The version I downloaded is by the Kiliaan Brothers.

Kanon in D by The Baronics. Ordered the original music and Got two of the three guitar parts down. Bass is pretty straight forward.
Trying to talk the band into pulling it off live....

Everyone's working on a lot of great material.

It's finally time to earnestly start all the Beach Boys songs I'm playing at the Ventures East Coast Fan Fest.

I'm also learning Eastwood Outlaw by Crazy Aces. I only wish I could whistle a tune. After the lead and rhythm parts, I'll try the bass part, just for the experience. But I'm thinking of taking this song down somewhere very deep with a Bass VI lead.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.
