This is awesome. Dave Myers & the Surftones had some really excellent stuff and I just heard one of the psych singles for the first time the other day. Just as excellent!

Yes, thanks very much for these. I knew the band had continued post-surf, but didn't know all the different incarnations.

Thanks Dennis!! It's such a treasure to have pics like these to see. Supercool when guys like you who were there for real share this stuff!
A few years back I found this DAVE MYERS EFFECT LP pictured below. I figure it was released around '68 or '69. It's all instrumental with some cool FUZZ. There's a cool re-working of Davie Allan's ANGRY BREED called "HELL'S RACERS" plus the theme from THUNDER ALLEY and more. This record is a cool little late-sixties gem. It's got Mike Curbs name on it of course! And produced by the Larry Brown, the guy who wrote the Angry Breed theme. Could you tell us any more about this LP. Thanks!

Priceless stuff, Dennis! Love the Disneyland-Surf Band connection at the Space Bar in Tommorowland! Avengers VI and a few other surf groups played there. Always wondered if anyone has any super 8 home movie footage of any of that. That would be amazing to see.
Thanks for shedding more light on that GREATESTS RACING THEMES LP. Seem like a classic Crescendo move to repackage it with different covers. Fun record with a later 60's vibe. I dig the organ and fuzz stuff.
I was wondering about the Harley Hatcher and Larry Brown penned songs. They "wrote" some of the stuff that Davie Allan recorded for Curb as well. Did they provide demos of that stuff , or did they play the melody on a piano in the studio, etc? Any recollection of how those songs were worked through?

Not exactly sure about some of the Hatcher / Brown stuff but if I remember right the songs were penned and given to us beforehand by Curb, no demos, etc. We did our own arranging of the material and I think Dave Mohr our organist brought a lot to the party in this example.

Dennis, wow, thanks so much; you have a number of 'surf music historian' types here(incl. me) and fabulous when an actual band member shares content and recollections. I have Hangin' Twenty, Lost Legends I, Surf Crazy, and will make it oh so much better when I listen to your music again.

Dennis, this is awesome, please empty your vaults here! Many thanks!
$24 for 3 sets at Disneyland? I thought they paid better than that.

Going through the old scrapbook I found this pic and it brought back some funny memories. If I remember right it was 1965 and we were doing a gig with the Chantays in Santa Ana Ca.
Obviously the Beatles were a big deal so of course we had our Nehru suits on and as a joke we put on Beatle wigs. We had bought them at a drugstore that day and wore them as we did a cover of 'I want to hold your hand'.

A couple years ago I wrote many of my memories, experiences and insights while in the group from 1962 to 1969. I may publish them here on another thread.
