I just learned about this style of guitar playing called Flatpicking...
It's kinda like playing Surf Music leads but you play fiddle tunes! Hmmm

I'm in a whole bluegrass phase meself. The 'lead runs' with scales in those tunes are really good for developing your flatpickin. Try a few reels and hornpipes as well. Cooley's Reel is a good one. Blackberry Blossom, Whiskey Before Breakfast, even Old Joe Clark

I'm working on a raft of my own songs. I've done one half-assed demo of a number I've titled "Hyperconnected Isolation Chamber (Surfin' the Web)." The brave may give it a listen here: http://www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=182938

Also spent about a month working on "Fadeaway" (Laika & the Cosmonauts). I've just about got it, but still have yet to make it through without at least one minor flub! :-0

I've pretty much got Nivram and Fistful of Dollars put away now.

The 'solo' in Nivram was intricate to learn, and I'm starting to improvise with it a bit.

Fistful of Dollars is interesting because the 'verses' and 'bridges' change each time through. It took me a few weeks to get to grips with memorising the sequence. Here's my take on the chord tabs for the Bradipos IV version (corrections/improvements welcomed as it was a nightmare to chord tab in this (lazy) format):

Fistful of Dollars

"The Shadows Set"

Shindig

Starting on Jet Black

Freshwater Surfin'

The Murray Basin
Australia

Bambi's - Rising East and Point of No Return

I've been working on that great surf perenial called "Duelin' Banjos" (well the Ventures covered it anyway). I played it on my porch. If you listen to the attached video carefully, I think you can hear a squeal. -Marty

Wow! Marty! Superb! 8-)

(I wonder how you could extend the arrangement for 2 electric guitars with reverb tanks, bass and drums?)

Damned fine playing, Marty.

Thanks guys!

"Hello Girls!"

Still the Shadows set

Finally got Jet Black, it took a long time for what is basically a noodle in Em pentatonic.

Working on the chord "chorus" of Genie with the Light Brown Lamp.

After that Dance On

Freshwater Surfin'

The Murray Basin
Australia

You know, sometimes it just doesn't get much tougher then the fathoms sometimes. I know I have been working on "She's the one" "Flaming Arrow" and "Tracking Bigfoot" for years now I still don't feel like I'm nailing the feel of the music. I have nothing but the most respect for Mr. Blandino.

It isn't surf guitar, or even surf music, but I've been going through the first 2 tracks off of Piper at the Gates of Dawn. And I guess, my noise making for Interstellar Overdrive Smile

Maybe a Univox does surf...

Instrumental version of the Cramps version of Goo Goo Muck. Human Fly too. Plus, working up a set of standards with my new 2-piece.

A band just took me on as their lead guitarist - among about 15 other songs they threw at me (!!), I'm learning these:

night rider - dick dale
hava nagila - dick dale
Jack the ripper - link wray
War of the satelites - Ventures
The Fly - The Mummies
Mazatlan Rally - The Jesters
The Jester - - the jesters
the hearse
surf rider
pipeline
penetration
