Not surf, but Burning Love (Elvis). Learning it because I'm going to be trying to coordinate some long-distance recording stuff.
I still can't play guitar well at all, but for some reason, the Bm barre chord seems to be coming along just fine. I have real trouble with those things.
There may be hope for me after all.

Just trying to follow along to this - such a great melody but confusing as hell (for me anyways)!

Even though it's quite common, I never learned "Surf Rider" by the Lively Ones. So I'm learning that now.

Hello all,
This weekend I am working on Surf Nouveau by the Aqua Velvets and Blue Mountain by the Denvermen.
To Instroverb and Capt Mike: There are a lot of versions of Surf Rider floating around that you can listen to. The Ventures have several on Youtube. The problem with those is that Nokie does not always play that middle bridge the same way in each video. That made it confusing for me to learn. I finally just focused on the Lively Ones version. That version works out pretty well from the videos.
Talk to you later,
Norm

The song is called "Yozora No Hoshi" which means 'stars in the night sky'.
It's by Yuzo Kayama. The Ventures also do it.

Speaking of Mozart,
I've always wanted to hear this with a surf arrangement, but at a faster tempo. K.581

I am currently working on Alpha Surfari by MoAM (a badass cover of Surfari by the OG Surfaris).
The song is pretty simple, but damn this double picking is killing me. I can usually get through 2/3rds of it, then my right hand/wrist/elbow stop working so well and i start biffing the notes. I NEEDS DOUBLE PICKING STAMINA!!!
Hopefully I will have it by August 11th, otherwise my member jam band mates are going to kick me out of the band!! ![Big Razz Big Razz](/media/smiley/images/bigrazz.gif)

I find it isn't as much stamina as much as it is maintaining a steady rhythm. If I'm just trying to pick as fast as I can and hitting the notes then I start to get some weird tension in my arm. But if I work more on maintaining a constant rhythm then I don't have the problem.

Recording "When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again." You know, like Ghost Riders in the Sky, but without the royalties.

All the versions of this song that have been posted are terrible. It's one of his better vocal tunes, and really dwarfs the A-side of that record. Anyway, dig this version:

I've been playing "Los Angeles No Nisei Matsuri" all morning.
