we had our first true practice tonight with a new bass player so we worked on 10 new tunes. i wish i could squeak a surf tune in but i don't want to be pushy but i'll try to get a few in as we work up a set list.

I worked up a Ventures tune from the Surfin' album and played it live our garage sale last weekend. woo hoo!

I know it seems silly, but I've got to do something besides memorize the circle of 4ths and 5ths (Ugh!) and learn all the chords, 3rds and scales on my Yamaha keyboard (Much more fun.) until I can play guitar again.

So, the Yamaha has a decent jazz organ tone and my Quilter has a neat tremolo that sounds just right, so I'm learning Telstar. I just can't help it. Sounds pretty good.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

working on 'son of a preacher man' today (rhythm and fills) .....i'm hoping our group can do a 'pulp fiction' twosome and i can sneak in 'surf rider'.

Went through tomorrow night's set list before packing the amps in the van for the Chapel Hill Summit.

Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps?

That's a Roland Cube Street. It's able to get a clean tone at fairly loud volumes. It goes forever on 6 AA batteries - they say 15 hours and I think that's a conservative estimate. It's perfect for garage sales! -MT
