Looks great!
Is there a "posts since last visit" feature in the new look?

There is, and I'm puzzled so many people are asking about it. It's in the same place as it was in the old site. However now it is in a pull-down menu with some other useful functions. On the main forum index page, it's on the upper right above the list of forums. It reads "Show topics with unread posts." Hope you find it and find it useful. —Site dude - S3 Agent #202 "It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea |

on the old forum, I would go to the forum, and sub forums. Then there would be a orange flag next to the threads that had new posts since my last visit. If I clicked on the orange flag, it would take me to the first post of the new ones added to that thread. Now there is a word (new) next to the thread. I click on it, and it doesn't do anything. Then I saw the thing to the far right. but that seems to take me to the last post. —Jeff(bigtikidude) Last edited: Feb 28, 2011 13:23:05 |

A-ha. Thank you. I finally understand what everyone is talking about. I can't believe it, but in the 5 years we had that software, I never once clicked on one of those orange icons. I always used the link in the upper right. I can look into bringing that functionality back. —Site dude - S3 Agent #202 "It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea |

Actually, I did it your way, Brian. And I did look in the pulldown, but somehow it only clicks with me now. The brain, not the mouse. It always takes me a while to get comfortable with a new interface. The change of colors alone makes my mind reel ... It is is cute, though, and I will adapt. I put in an experimental change such that the "new" icon will take you to the first unread post (when it is displayed in front of a topic/thread). And if you use the "Show topics with unread posts" pull-down, the links to the topics do the same thing now. —Site dude - S3 Agent #202 "It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea |

I think it was the change in wording as much as anything that puzzled me. I'd stopped thinking about what the words meant. |

No problem. My current solution doesn't quite work, but I think I can fix it in the next few days. —Site dude - S3 Agent #202 "It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea |

Alrighty, a better fix is in place now. Seems to be working better. Click on the "new" icon (when it is in front of a topic) to be taken to the first unread post in that topic. —Site dude - S3 Agent #202 "It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea |

I never knew this feature was on the old site. I habitually hit the link to the last/most recent post in the thread. Then like a hamster on the wheel, I was automatic - hitting the page up keys to see if I had read the previous post(s). Never again! Love the feature - thanks for pointing it out, Jeff, and thanks for making it work in 2.o Brian! —Fady El Mirage @ ReverbNation |

Really Jeff? Ok, I'll keep my eye open for problems and double check the code. I probably won't be able to make any tweaks or changes for a few days as I'll be out of town. —Site dude - S3 Agent #202 "It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea |

Hello Brian The feature the OP was after isn't exactly replicated on the As a weekly visitor it was a convenient way of keeping up to date. Freshwater Surfin' The Murray Basin |

Windmill, if I understand you correctly, it just sounds like you need to hit the "mark all forums read" button when you are done scanning topics to get the same behavior as the old forum. —Site dude - S3 Agent #202 "It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea Last edited: Mar 12, 2011 20:06:13 |

Maybe add the mark all forums read button to the page listing the posts since last visit for convenience sake? —Danny Snyder Playing keys and guitar with Combo Tezeta Formerly a guitarist in The TomorrowMen and Meshugga Beach Party Latest surf project - Now That's What I Call SURF |
