Sorry to re-post, maybe I should have also mentioned this, in case you thought I was promoting my own insipid music! The Break: http://www.myspace.com/thebreakau —Tim O |

A cool song! Let's see, Mastodon adding surf parts to their songs, Brian Setzer and Brad Paisley recording full blown surf songs, and now Midnight Oil guys forming a full blown surf band. It's nice to see that our little genre still gets some love and attention from bigger guys.... —Ivan |

Brian Setzer's is on his new album "Songs from Lonely Avenue" - it's called "Mr. Surfer Goes Jazzin'", and it's really good. (There's also an accompanying song called "Mr. Jazzer Goes Surfin'", which is much more of a jazz tune...) Brad Paisley had a mostly instro album called "Play" where he did a track called "Surf'n'Turf" or something - I don't have this, so it's strictly from memory.... —Ivan |

I just checked out the Brad Paisley song, it's called Turf's Up. Pretty decent, sort of reminds me of Squad Car. —The artist formerly known as: Synchro When Surf Guitar is outlawed only outlaws will play Surf Guitar. |

Isn't this band basically The Angry Tradesmen? So far I'm really really liking these guys. The over the top drumming really sells it for me! —Reverb, It's A Way Of Life! |

Brandonio, thanks for Facebook invite to become a fan of The Break. I missed this thread and I really dig their sound. Now I get to be a fan of Midnight Oil again (probably won't get to see them in my town this time though). I had the pleasure of experiencing The Break when they opened for The Atlantics recently. Let me tell you, those guys rock. (in a surf kind of way) |

I bet you can't eff with this band either. Seriously, how many other surf bands have there been with musicians that are extremely well known for other projects? The Heartbreakers/Blue Stingrays come to mind, and the guy from The Raveonettes/Tremelo Beer Gut too. —The Mystery Men? |

thanks for the pics Mandy - any vids would be welcome too. Though I'm in Australia also, they're just a tad too far to travel for a quiet night out. Tim O |

This is BIG!! and for me it is close enough to see live. I can sense a major resurgence happening down under. I hope they get enough support to keep this going. |

Wow... maybe I missed this blog because I started one yesterday Anyway, to me it almost has to be good stuff because Midnight Oil is one of my favorite bands. Part of me would like to see Peter Garrett with them again for one more world tour but I guess this would be good as well. Midnight Oil ---> extremely underrated. |
