I haven't been a member that long, has it been done?
bird bath...
I've been a member here for a little while...and I don't
remeber hearing this idea. My initial reaction
is..."FREAKIN' RIGHT ON!"...I'm down with the idea...
I think one way this could work is for each of us to submit
a tune by a certain date to a responsible person on this
list. We can either compile the tunes online (MP3 style)
if we have a willing host (www.surfguitar101.com ???) or
we can each submit a "dupe fee" (like $10-$20) and make a
CD.
I think the MP3 idea would be easiest and cheapest. I'd
love to have an online "audio calling card" for each
willing member...that way I can recognize people
better...you know..."Gavin is that dude with the wild
sounding trem action" or "Ivan is the dude with the
Morroccan sounding tune." Or big tikidude is that dude with
that bigtiki sound...or whatever. It would be cool to have
a SG101 comp CD,...but I could always download and burn my
own.
what a great idea!
again, count me in the "Yea" column.

I'd be in to doing it too. the MP3 way seems easiest, and we could
always make a disc later if there is a lot of good surf involved.
Chris
I've done this kinda mp3 comp with my Ventures list. It's always a success.
Count me in.

We have done this type of thing with Marty on the Ventures list also. I think
this would be an excellent project with all the talent here on Surfguitar 101!
I think an mp3 compilation would be awesome! We would be willing to contribute.

I'd be very glad to manage/oversee such a project. I'm thinking we could
collect the mp3's and put them up on surfguitar101.com.
Maybe if I practice some more and learn how to record myself properly,
the missus and I could even contribute something. If you promise not to
laugh.

Do you mean after a big dinner, ha ha LOL!!
or playing Bass in the Moby Dicks. we're going to record 3 more

Is there a deadline?
I nominate Ferenc to tab all the songs out...

Brian:
You are the King of the Surf Guitar Websites!...
This MP3 project sounds like it's picking up some steam.
So how do we get the MP3s to you Brian? Do you think an
upload area would work?...zip files via email? burn cds and
mail via snail mail?
do tell...

I'd love to hear what folks have to offer! mp3 transfer over the net was how
we did it on the Ventures sight, Brian.
I think the only thing I didn't like about the way the similar project
worked on the Ventures list was that most folks used drum machines so a lot
of it had a sterile sound.

If this is for bands too we'd be willing to submit something. I
really don't have the technology to record something on my own.
Bill
the Reluctant Aquanauts
My band would be willing to contribute as well if this is a thing for
bands. There are many people who post here to fill up a CD. The guy
from Double Crown records was interested in distributing the CD is it
is good enough.

Count me in. If I don't get around to recording anything, I'll at
least participate by transcribing Marty's contribution.
(Or trying to, at least.)

Like Jacobdobner, my band would also be willing to contribute to the
cd...oh...we're in the same band.
