Slacktone with Ferenc, Paul Johnson, and misirlou
You are the best. Thank you so much for posting those. And in
selfishness, is that all? That Misirlou was awesome. And it was great
to see all of these people playing on video. Thank you again.

You rule dude! Thanks so much. If you need somewhere to host that at
some point in the future, let me know... :)

Please excuse the stupid question, but what amp and cab set up is Dave using
there?
I love the chords he throws into Miserlou. It's great to see Sam and Dusty back
home
in Slacktone as well.
Dale
The amp on top is Dave's custom Slacktone Amp. We don't know very much
about it except there is a built in reverb unit. We think. And the amp
on the bottom I would have to assume is a Super Reverb. The videos
don't really show it clearly enough but I do know Dave has played
those in the past.
That version of Misirlou is my favorite version I have ever heard.
Those chords he tosses in really makes it work. And all the stuff he
does at the beginning and when he goes for the tremolo bar with the
open E to do the hammering on and off thing in the middle of the song.
Awesome.

I've often wondered how Dave get's such a clean tone out of a
Super. What alterations has he made to it? I know the Super Reverb
and Bandmaster are "essentially" the same chassis and are both 40
watts. One major difference would be the solid state rectifier vs.
the tube rectifier. I've been told that the solid state rectifier
keeps things cleaner than the tube rectifier. It seems like its
more than just the speakers when it comes to my Bandmaster's 40
clean watts, and my Super's 40 blues breaker watts.
Bill
The Slacktone amp is a modified Pro Reverb.

I think the amp we have heard mainly with Slacktone is that Slacktone
amp. I don't know the wattage on that. Can anybody at the show confirm
if he was running the two amps at the same time? I've never directly
tested a tube recitifier vs. a solid state rectifier but I have heard
the solid state ones are cleaner as well.

How modified? I am guessing it shouldn't even be called a Pro Reverb
anymore.

Dave has posted in the past all the gory details on his Slacktone
amp. You might try searching the archives or maybe we can twist his
arm to divulge the secrets again.
Unfortunately, the search feature for Yahoo Groups really blows.

Brian's repost of Dave's amp details (originally
posted by Dave on the Slacktone list) is message #1086
in the group's message archive.

Yeah, I think that's the most impressive live performance I've seen of
that song.
Very good. Thanks Rick.
Those are gory details...good stuff.
Makes me wonder about rebuilding my Bassman 10 into "something" or just selling
it
for something else.

I love how half way through he says:
"Also, for all you techies..."
As if the first half was geared towards the layman... ;-)

How modified Dave's amp is? That's a Lady Clairol question. Only Dave's
hairdresser knows for sure.
