Thanks to everyone who helped me with my Showman problem... It WAS
a mis-wired speaker. I thought I did a good job checking them the
first time, but because the lead connectors aren't the same color,
I think I outsmarted myself when I hooked up the wires. I re-
checked them for polarity with a 1.5 volt battery, then I hooked
each up on their own, and played to make sure each speaker was
working well. Then I hooked both up, and it is really great. Just
the sound I was expecting.
Interestingly, it is much louder, and has more "oomph" on the
non-vibrato channel.
Brian - It started out as a Tone ring single 15" cabinet,
36x24x11.5 I had a new baffle board made .Right now it is just the
cabinet with insulation, no divider. I don't know if I should add
the divider or not. A fellow Surf Guitar 101 member, Maui, has
the huge dual showman cabinet,45x36x11.5 or so, and it has no
insulation, no divider, but two 3" ports, and it sounds
incredible.
I hear D.D. fills his completely with insulation "Packed tight"
I don't really now enough about this to make even an educated
choice....

Yeah, the black face vibrato channel is like that, that is normal. Some
people install a push/pull pot to bypass that part of the circuit
entirely to get that gain back (or unhook it completely...not
recommended for surf guys who actually use that effect now and then)
That's great about getting it going so easily. Let us know how it sounds
and what your impressions are of it when you get some mileage on it.
