It was totally a joke. No way would you, or anyone else, have been
expected to sell those things at that much of a loss, and certainly
not after setting up their first US tour and everything else. Really,
I was kidding.

Actually, they aren't being sold by independent merchants--it's by
Amazon themselves, so I doubt they're stolen or bootlegs. The last
times I've tried ordering Surf Coasters CDs from people selling them
used on Amazon, the orders haven't been filled, and I've gotten
refunds. For the one I previously ordered from Amazon themselves--
interestingly enough, a $35 "Surf Attack" when it came out last year--
the order was filled.
**Slightly off-topic** This isn't the first time Amazon's done
something like this--a few months ago they were unloading brand new
DVD boxsets from Fox TV shows for $15, including "24," which usually
goes for about $50. You could only get a maximum of two per order,
but if you did there was free shipping. I fully expected to get a
refund, but imagine my surprise when legit DVDs actually showed up a
week later. Granted, it's not quite as much of a discount, but it was
still a bit of a shock.

A couple months ago I ordered the Chantays Pipeline/Two Sides twofer
on Amazon, which they still list for $17.50 (I think). All of the
Amazon merchants had it listed for $30+. I finally gave up and
cancelled the order through Amazon because the ship date kept getting
pushed off.
Yeah,
Amazon will push off the ship date for a month and then they will cancel the
order (if you haven't already). I expect that's what will happen with our .99
Surf Coaster orders.
