I've been looking for a 1X15 extension cab without much luck (as with every post
I
make...arrggghhh). Ebay has one that's pretty beat up, but after shipping, I
might as
well build my own. My friend has an awesome shop.
Does anyone know of any plans for such a project? I know that you can get into
some
frequency weirdness if you don't build it exactly right.
Someone had some plans on Ebay, but they were small cab designs. I like the tone
of
the bigger cabs.
Thanks!!!!!
Dale
Dale,
My bassist had a cabinet made over at ampwares.com. He tell's me it
was cheaper than buying a used one. Although, he already had the
old speakers from a big late '66 cab. Which reminds me, there is
also the practice of cab hacking. You know those monster double 15
cabs from late '66+? Those can be found dirt cheap in the pawn
shops around this city. You'll have all the hardware too.

I just built one of these. I just used the dimensions I found off of
the internet and made those the size of the cab. Then i found pictures
of the inside and duplicated that. Double check your dimensions. The
site I went to gave me the wrong dimension and now my cab is two
inches too tall. Also I had no idea how the grill was attached so I
built a wooden frame and stapled cloth to it and attached the frame to
the baffle board with velcro.
It turned out pretty nice. It really looks like a Fender cab. If you
put enough attention to detail it should turn out well.

Thanks Bill,
I checked out that site. Those are mighty fine looking cabs. I'll take your
advice and
checkout the pawn shops around here, but it's bleak. Maybe I'll get lucky....
