I wrote to the seller and asked
"What is it that makes you think
it's a 57? It seems to have the
wrong neck, pickguard, neck plate etc.
Can you tell me the serial number?"
His answer -
"This is waht the guy said..Old guy i believed him..
I dont play so i really dont know guitars..Just
bought it to hang on the wALL. The numbers are 11373"
The numbers seem to put it into the 55-56 year range.
But obviously most of the components are some kind
of non-F parts.
So there's a rip off here. It may have occurred TO the
current seller, it's surely going to occurr to the
prospective buyer.

Eeek!
After writing to that eBay seller and
inquiring about the authenticity of that
57 strat, I received two friendly emails
in return. I believe the guy thinks he
has been mislead and he is doing the
honorable thing by pulling the auction.
Here is his email to me -

Thanks .,, I am pullin it..I will have it checked..
I dont know any thing about guitars and dont play..
Just saw it and liked it wanted to hang it on the wall..
I was goin by what the guy said..Didnt pay much..So im not
out much..Thought if it was real i had a good deal..
I always do that and never end up with a good deal..
THanks Rich,, Tell others I would never purposely
miss lead or try to rip some one..
