Best of 2004 Poll Sample Ballot

Brian Neal (xarxas) - 04 Jan 2005 18:42:58

In order to prevent any "hanging chad" mishaps, take a look at this link:
It is the current sample ballot for our upcoming best of 2004 poll.
Look it over and post any comments, suggestions, etc. to this list by
replying to this message. Did we miss any releases? What do you think
of the format (i.e. vote for 5)?
Thanks!

So.....no comments? Am I the only one interested in this? In any
event, this list should be helpful for catching up releases you might
not have known about.
I guess I'll turn the poll on then. Look for another announcement later.
Thanks,
BN

Whoops. Again, the whole replying to only one person thing falls by
the wayside--sorry, all.

I don't go for those separate polls, Brian. Although they are more scientific,
they don't go far in fostering list discussion and that's what I'm here fer. I
like to see more elaborated points of view.

I'm not sure what you mean by "separate polls", Marty. I think that once
the poll is over it will foster (Evan?) some discussion.

interestingly enough, although I just ordered the Link Wray one as well--I'm not
going to be too much help in the area of commenting on most of the selections.
You may want to change the title to best releases of 2004, though, since
some--Davie Allan, Link Wray, SC, SP--either contain all old material or a vast
majority of it.

I freely admit I do not have everything (not even a majority) of what is
on the ballot either. But I just think it will be interesting seeing
what everyone did like and/or buy.

Exactly!

(it's Dusty, right?), but most of the songs didn't do a whole lot for me.
Especially "I Want Some Sex." It was good line on the cartoon Sealab
2021--because they used it sparingly.

Yes, I am not quite sure what possessed him to release a vocal track,
especially one as cringe-worthy as that one, on an album he called
"Instrumentals". I guess he only says those 4 words over and over so
maybe he's got some 4 word limit for a song to still be considered an
instrumental.
BTW, did anyone else notice Evan Foster has a <gasp> humbucker in his
Jag on the photo? :^)

I'm also not exactly sure what I mean by seperate polls, Brian, being that I
haven't actually participated but I was thinking of the sort of automated tally
polls occasonally set up on one of the many lists to which I belong. If that's
not what you're talking about, sorry! You're right, any poll will motivate some
discussion.
