Dave W:
Have you ever thought about sharing your ideas and experience with
Jaguars/Jazzmasters with Fender and coming up with a better
mousetrap? Perhaps a Jaguar/Jazzmaster with some updated features
for the new century? All the ingredients are there: you work for
Fender, you play Jaguars, and you are a gear head's gear head. I'd
buy one in a heart beat :)
The Super Turbo Deluxe Dave Wronski Slackmaster!
Merry Christmas!

The Surf Guitar made by the Custom Shop is my idea.
Strat body, Jaguar scale, bridge, and tailpiece.
Though I placed the switch in a better place. It's
exactly the same position as a Jaguar. I use a blade
switch on my Jags. For this guitar, because of limited
space, I use a jazzmater style switch. {Gibson}
No one has asked for input from me about new products,
and they are probably pretty content with what they
are doing now. That's probably enough said. I've
included a a pic of my new guitar.I'm still waiting on
the neck that is being made outside of Fender.

Brian, I sent the picture of the guitar to the
Slacktone photo file. I'll probably add amiddle pickup
for looks if not for sound.
have a great Christmas!

I really like the guitar of the guitarist from The Cocktail Preachers.
From what I remember Phil the bassist posting several months ago it
was built by some guy who works in the custom shop at Fender. To see a
picture go to surfguitar101.com and look under the Cocktail Preachers
pictures. It is a surf green Jaguar/Jazzmaster style body but the
tremelo is a strat style one. Also a Strat input jack. The pickups are
Jazzmaster pickups. The neck is figured maple. It is really a great
looking guitar. Not much of a radical departure from the Jazzmaster
but still pretty cool. Similar to what Ivan proposed a couple months back.
Hey thanks for admiring my guitar. Jim Decola from Fender Fame and I
came up with the idea for this 4 or 5 years ago. The feel of a
strat with the sound and balls of a Jazzmaster. Now if I can just
get a switch to emulate that chunky Mosrite sound, I'd be in heaven.

Dave,
Looks very cool to me. It's also interesting that Shigeo from the Surf
Coasters also has a Strat that has a Jaguar tailpiece/bridge and only 2
pickups. I'm guessing that his guitar has the Strat scale length
though. Here is a pic:
The pickups are black in the recent Surf Coasters DVD, so I'm guessing
he changed them out since the photo was taken.

It's 24" scale, the same as a Jaguar. It gives you an
extra fret so you can hit "D" on the E strings. Yes,
those are Jaguar pickups. What's interesting that I
didn't realize until I tried a neck on it is how small
the guitar is with that scale.

That is a cool guitar. It looks like a Strat body with
25" scale with 21 frets. If you look at mine you can
see that the knob placement is tighter, and there
would be no room for the switch in the usual Strat
layout. This is because of the 24" scale.

Meet the all-new My Yahoo! - Try it today!
I'll try to get some screen captures from the Surf Coaster's DVD to get
some better shots of Shigeo's guitar. Stay tuned...
