I'm definitely excited about the immediate future of surf. Here's how I see
it:
1. The Madeira formed - Thank God. I miss the Cossacks.
2. The Infrareds are VERY close to their next release - I've heard a
sample...awesome stuff coming...
3. The Headless Hearsemen are forming. Long live the Ghastly Ones.
4. Satan's Pilgrims are releasing some "new" stuff. And might possibly
record new tracks...and, dare I say it..."tour"
5. I just found out The Hotel Utah still serves up "Surfin' Sundays" under
new management.
I mean, the only thing missing from this wish-list of surf is that The
Fathoms are releasing a new one and going on tour to support it.

As for The Nebulas activity...we've been incognito, but I promise "it" will
be good. :)
Some comments added to what Dan said...

Bring it on, Ivan!

I haven't heard anything about the Infrareds recently, it is good to
know they are still working. I know that half the band is still in
Monterey and Rory is in San Diego, with no shows listed recently.

I have the new Pilgrims compilation, it is an awesome 2 CD affair. 4
new songs done in the 3 guitar style as Bobby Pilgrim came back to the
band. Also, a few unreleased songs, stuff from compilations. Really
great liner notes by Jeff (Surf Trio) Martin. And some live video. And
fwiw, which is nothing, I heard a rumor that they MIGHT do some West
Coast dates next summer. Might not.

The Nebulas are hibernating?

Hey Ferenc,
Where did you get the new Pilgrims cd set from? Musick's website
doesn't show it as out yet (unless I missed something). Or did you
get an advance copy as a powerful & influential member of the surf
genre :-)

If I ever wanted to kill someone and not get caught, I'd beat them to
death with a fish. It can't be easy to get fingerprints off a fish.
Life is short. Play for the music. Wear your heart on your sleeve.
I'm sure it helps that Pollo Del Mar is on MUSICK Records.
Hey I helped art move 2 times, you'd think i'd be in there too.
Guess not. :(

Yeah, I remembered that shortly *after* I posted the reply. Is my
keyboard red now :-)

I think the Pilgrims comp has a release date of October 31.
Woooooooooohhhh...... (scary howling wind sound).

Hi again Dano!

Thanks, my friend. I hope we live up to your expectations. It's
hard with everyone married, two members with kids under 2 and one on
the way, and half the band living 200 miles away from the other
half. But we hope we'll be recording an album next year. The
originals are definitely accumulating...
BTW, I'll have a bigger announcement later, but the Madeira is
playing in Indy on Friday, December 10th, with Destination: Earth!
and the Troubadours - The Night of Nepotism! :)

Ooooh, allusions and hints... Hmm, I wonder what that means??
I certainly hope that you guys can make a trek to the Eastern Midwest
sometime next Spring or Summer. We'd be happy to help arrange that.
Ivan
Oh yeah, The Madeira is great. It's surf nirvana.
