Does a 1962 Fender reverb tank in excellent original condition have
the same value as a 1963 blonde Fender Tremolux piggyback
amp/speaker combo in 7 out of 10 condition? I just found the reverb
unit up here in Toronto in a vintage music store for $1100 canadian
(approx $700 U.S.). The only way I can swing it is to trade in my
tremolux. What think?
Dan
man, that sounds so expensive...but, in today's market it
is probably an accurate value for an original '62 verb...

Personally I wouldn't do it. I don't think a '62 reverb unit compares
to the value of a '63 blonde tremolux. Do you own other amps? If you
own a Showman, Twin, etc.. then you might consider it depending on the
sentimental value ot he Tremolux. If you own a RI reverb tank then it
is probably not worth the boost to go vintage.

I actually haven't used the tremolux at a gig in years. Ever since I bought my
Fender "The Twin," not to be confused with a regular Twin, I don't need any
other gig amp. I guess I have to admit that I don't have any emotional
attachment to the 'ol tremolux. My desire to own a vintage tank is stronger. (I
don't own any reverb tank)
I always considered the tremolux to be one of the lesser collectable pre CBS
Fender amps. Maybe I'm wrong. Still haven't made up my mind yet, but I sure do
wanna get wet!
Just don't wanna get soaked by the deal!
