Dick Dale Concert Report

flatwound01 - 28 May 2002 21:32:24

Hey Guys!
Just got back from seeing Dick Dale up in Northampton, MA - first
time I've even seen him. Wow!! Awesome is one word that comes to
mind - this guy rips! He played lots of stuff from his new CD, an
acoustic set, and a few "oldies". That guy really knows how to have
fun with the crowd, too!
We were sitting off to the side, so I'm not (totally) deaf, but he
had some huge volume working! It's great to see someone play who
just blows you away!
Incidentally, I saw more than one Nebulas t-shirt in the crowd -
including one worn during the show by DD's bass player! Dano - where
can I get one? I really need to see you guys, especially since I'm
in Western MA (I have no excuse!) . . .
For those who haven't seen Dick Dale live, do it!!

I will be seeing him this saturday at the Knitting Factory in NYC. I
can't wait! I saw him last year at the Wetlands and it was honestly
the best sounding concert I had ever been to.
I was kind of disappointed with the production values of the new cd,
though. The mix is rather muddy.... and I don't think the world
honestly needs another acoustic rendition of silent night. He is the
King and I suppose he can do what he wants, though.

Dick,
I have the T-shirts available for sale which I normally sell at our
shows. If you're interested, you can order one from me directly and I'll
mail it. I just havent been able to post the image to my ordering site yet.
They're ten bucks. I have two kinds: in L and XL, I have the one you saw Ron
Eglit wearing at the show: all black with white logo. I have a few mediums
left which are really popular; black shirt, white logo, but the collar and
arm bands are white. Let me know if you're interested.
