Hi Jeff,
Well, I was thinking of incorporating the
singing aspect of Isaak's tunes too. Irregardless, I
would think it be cool if someone cared enough about
your music to want to play it/sing it. It, to me, is a
great compliment. Whatever. I had asked him one time I
had seen him at his after concert signings and asked
him when I would be able to play guitar with him.
hereplied, "as soon as you get rid of my guitar
player." Joking I'm sure. I do agree that Herschel
Yatovitz has made his sound thin and too pop-like.
Jimmy used the pedal and trem bar so well that
everything just swelled. Isaak's lyrics were swollen
with emotion so they both were perfect for each other.
In my opinion, that's why his tunes with Jimmy
captivate me.
I remember the first and last time I saw Jimmy
in LA I had talked to him a little about his tone and
what not. From memory, I believe he uses a Twin, a
pedal, and an echo. That's it. Fender strat of course.
He said at that time, he was going to record with the
guys and out out a CD. I told him that I would be
willing to play as a backup guitarist if needed for
free. He was cool about it but I never heard a peep
from that guy and he has yet to surface in public
(musically). I wish he would play again.
You mentioned something about a slip with
Jimmy. Was he a druggie? Just curious. Take care Jeff.
