Hi,
I received your e-mail and no I am not Jimmy Wilsey.
I sure try to play like him though. I am a big JW fan
and have been scouring the internet looking for the
last remnants of him. I saw him play with The
Mysteries back about two years ago. He sounded
awesome. I didn't hear of anything of him afterward to
this day. It bums me out because that was my first
time I went to see him.
I have been flirting wit the idea of putting
together some Chris Isaak/Surf Tunes band for some
time now but due to lack of interest from the music
community I have just shelved that idea. I think that
Jimmy's playing from 1985 to 1993 was great. That was
his stretch with Isaak. His best work I think was on
Chris Isaak's 1987 album. All of those songs were
great and the album had awesome continuity. Many hits
were culled from that album. Heart Shaped World was
very moody and had some great playing too. It is a
close second.
Isaak seems to have turned into a jerk as someone
close to him had mentioned to him I was considering
the band thing (playing his songs and other surf
tunes) and he wasn't too thrilled. I listen to his
stuff, The Mermen, The Torquays, Los Straightjackets,
The Shadows and some assorted older tunes.
Seems like a brief bio but just to let you know
where I am at. Take care and I agree with your
comments on JW. Jimmy Wilsey Lives! Cancer
