Cancer, I don't have any experience with the BOSS TR-2, but I do have with
its predecessor, the PN-2. I had two of the units at one time, and found
one was quite noisy (had the pulsating noise you describe, plus an annoying
"clicking"), and one was very quiet (although you will always have some "air
movement" noise). I asked the manufacturer tech folks about this, and they
said that some (very few, according to them) did display the noise problem,
which was considered a defect. I since sold the "defective" one, and have
been very happy with the PN-2 as my mainstay tremelo pedal. The built-in
tremelo circuits in the Fender re-issues (and many pre-CBS models) sound
very wimply to me). I would take your pedal back to the store, and try
another unit to see if it is the same. Hope this helps some.
Best regards, Dana

Subject: [SurfGuitar101] Hi all! New member here with some trem questions.
Hi,
I just purchased a BOSS TR-2 Tremolo for my gear set-up and I
noticed that even when I am not playing (no notes struck) and the
pedal is on that there is background clicking/hiss like a "fft fft
fft" which is related to the speed. However, I am not striking any
notes. Even with the guitar detached and there is just a line out
from the pedal (power on) to the amp it is there. It is so loud
though. I have a Fender Champ 110 that I use. I am curious to know if
this is normal for this pedal or is it defecto. If it is normal I
would like any suggestions as to what trem pedal out there does a
real nice imitation of the large vintage and new Fender tube amps
(which are expensive) and won't cost a $1000. Thanks for the help.
Thank God that there is such a group. Jimmy Wilsey Lives!
