The only artist that I know of who played Microfrets was Carl
Perkins. He was never associated with any particular guitar and
would play virtually any model of guitar. There is one DVD of him
playing it on a live Jerry Lee Lewis show. His tone is very treble-y
(always was). I think he sounded his best on his black G&L ASAT
(special?) - a black tele style body with black soap bar pus.
Awesome sound. Microfrets were made for about 6-8 years in
(Frederick?), Maryland in the late 60s - early 70s. Anyone with
further info?....
Just got my red Dano Hodad w/ a Dano-Bigsby tremelo arm! Cowabunga!
