Re: Rick's Strat (REEEEEEE: Which Strat?)

ipongrac - 15 Jul 2004 14:35:43

Hey Rick!
Glad to hear I inspired your choice of guitar and color! Ain't it
beautiful? I highly recommend replacing the stock white pickguard
with a tortoishell one - it works really well with Shoreline Gold, if
I may say so.
The guitar is in shop now being set up for 12-52 gauge strings (it
had 11-49 before). It my last Strat with 11s. My fingers have
really gotten used to 12s by now, and 11s just feel too flimsy.
Can't wait to get it back!
BTW, I put Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro pickups in that guitar, and
they're really nice, very warm and full.

Wow, that's amazing that I throught you were already playing 12s??? Hmmm?
Must be the Surf mojo psychi working in our little community here? grin
Can you direct me to where i can get the exact tortose shell pick guard?
I've had pretty bad fortune ordering guitar parts online, so it would be
very helpfull if you could.
Concerning the color of the guitar, it was advertised as "A brown pinkish
mist," on Ebay and I knew exactly what the guy was talking about, I placed 1
bid and 5 minutes later, it was mine! smile
Just so you know, , we are waiting patiently for the Freshmen, Madeira dis,
my friend!!!
Thank you kindly, Rick!

Hello Rick;
I have been playing 12-52 gauges on my black Strat since late '98,
and my fiesta red Strat since 2002. The shoreline gold Strat is my
last Strat to get the 12s. That's all I meant.
I actually purchased that tortoiseshell pickguard back in '95, and I
really can't remember where I got it. I think it might be by WD
pickguards, but it's been too long. I know Fender itself has been
making replacement pickguards, and you should probably just get one
of those.
Finally, thanks for waiting for the Madeira CD, but it'll be a
while! (We do have a practice this weekend, with six new originals
to be worked on, so we'll see how long it'll take us to get our stuff
together...)
Best,
ivan
