Once again, thanks to everyone for their help. Because of the great
advice, our first shows went extremely well.
I downloaded some photos of the first two shows.
Thanks again!

Chris! Great news! Can you tell us what you played, where you
played, how did it sound playing outside, etc? What was the audience
reaction?

Since you asked, BN, of course I'd be glad to give the details.
I put the photos in a file called Aquasonics in the files section.
We played outside of a local coffee shop ( free mocha-chino's!)
that has a little center square. It was on a Friday night about 7,
so there wasn't a huge crowd, but there were family and friends, and
quite a few people stopped and listened as they drove or walked by.
We played two 45 minute sets, all covers. Probably 60-70% 60's
surf, the rest was newer "Third Wave" surf. We have to play all the
classics, plus a bunch only the die-hard surf guys would know. Since
we are in Colorado, we had to play a bunch of Astronauts songs.
I thought it sounded awesome - really big and full. We brought
some big amps - Maui played his MIA Jazzmaster through his SF Twin
Reverb and a Fender Reverb Tank ( it's loud!) and I played a MIJ
Jazzmaster through my SF Vibrosonic Reverb into a vintage '64 Single
Showman Cabinet with the tone ring and JBL D130F speaker and a Fender
Reverb Tank. It sounds GOOD! I had to turn down the bass on my amp
because it was just too much. The Showman cabinet makes a huge
difference in low end response. I was worried we would sound thin
because of the great outdoors, but it didn't seem to be a problem.
Jesse, the drummmer played his super cool looking 1967 psychadelic
Ludwigs. Scott, the bass player, played his p-bass through a newer
bass rig( sorry, I don't know too much about bass equipment)
We got some really good comments from the crowd. One guy said he
was driving by, and he heard songs he hadn't heard since the 60's,
and he wanted to know when we were going to play again so he could
come and see us.
I had about the best time I have ever had. a dream come true. I
never thought I would get the opportunity to play in a real band, in
front of real people. I can hardly wait to do it again this
Saturday. Thanks for letting me ramble on.
