Dalibor in Zagreb

Moon Dawg (reverb2000) - 11 Jul 2004 20:17:22

Folks,
For those who might be interested, I have just uploaded photographic
evidence (click on the photos link to the left, and go to the last
page) of my visit with Dalibor (Bambi Molesters) in Zagreb two weeks
ago. I also got to meet Lada and Hrvoje of the band; unfortunately I
didn't get to hear the band play. But I did get the all-important
souvenir Bambi Molesters t-shirt.
Maybe of more general interest, let me heavily plug the new
re-recorded CD version of "Dumb Loud Hollow Twang". It is easily one
of the ten greatest surf albums of the last decade.

Moon Dawg!
It's great to "see" you here! What brought you to Zagreb?
Questions:
Is Lada as stunning in person as she is on the CD covers? :)
And I think I asked Ivan this before, but I forgot, how in the heck
do you pronounce Hrvjoe anyway? :)
Do the Bambi Molesters have any plans to come to the USA? I see from
their website they have started another band on the side...
I agree with you about their re-release of Dumb Loud Hollow Twang.
Although I wasn't as thrilled at first about the added horns and
other instruments, but I got used to them. However, the great new
cover songs more than made up for it. Great band, and a great CD!
Dave at Zptduda also has some more of their "Backstage Pass" DVD's
in stock now. They are only $10 they suffered some damage in
shipping to the US. They are in PAL format, so they'll probably only
work on your computer here in the US (and not your TV). Can anyone
verify that? I've ordered mine...
Thanks,
BN

The train from Vienna. I had a couple of days to kill after business
in Vienna, so why not meet my Morricone-tribute-co-conspirator in Zagreb?
> Is Lada as stunning in person as she is on the CD covers? :)
You know, I expected that to be the first rather than the second
question. ;-) To be tactful, I will say that the CD cover photos
accurately picture all three members of the band that I met. What
they don't show is that all three stand about 5'10".

It's spelled Hrvoje, and pronounced Hr-VOH-yea.

I lobbied hard for a US tour, and they'd like to, but the business
case is difficult. Know any promoters who will pay their airfare?
Remarkably, they've played New Zealand, because a big festival paid
their way.

I can verify that the dvd plays on my computer. Very entertaining.
It's in Croatian with optional English subtitles. They could have
dubbed it in English themselves, since they all speak the language
well, but I suppose that would have run counter to its "cinema verite"
approach.
