get band together WAS Re: Got to see a surf show last night

mono_tones_1 - 09 Jul 2004 04:25:37

Hi Richard!,
if you still want to get a band together; I found that a lot of
people, esp young musicians not in a band, actually would like to
play surf music, but dont respond 'because they don't have a clue
what surf is. A bit like you might really like yabbahodila ... if you
only knew what it was!
So, it might be an idea to compile your own faves cd, or what you
want to play, and give it to people around you to listen to and then
decide..... and even apart from whether your a surf music fan, surf
is really fun and interseting to play.
Anyway, that's how I first got my band of now-converted-to-the-holy-
surf together. give it a try.

Hello, i recieved this e-mail upon just joining the surf guitar site. My name is
Ryan and i am currently in the middle of reheasals with a surf band im trying to
get together. Its a three piece and i have decent players but the problem is i
dont know dick dale about the genre. excuse the poor pun. If you could recommed
some artists, cds or places i could download some good surf from i would be
grateful. Also i would be interested in what kind of songs you play.
