Anyone know where i can find a tab for 'The Wedge?' I think I have it
mostly figured out but there are some parts I'm stuck on...Thanks!
someone from the list just emailed me a this copy not too long ago when I
asked for it, so I'll just pass it along. I haven't really looked over it
for "correctness" because I ended up going over it during a guitar lesson.

Check out The Sonars site. They collected a lot of the old Paradise Cove's
tabs.
The Wedge is wedged in there somewhere.

I just checked out the Wedge tab, and it differs from when we play
it. Instead of starting on the 2nd fret G string, I start on the
12th fret A string. Semantics I guess. I've never seen Dick play
it.

Mike,
Did you miss the video clip of vintage Dick? I used to play the wedge at 2nd
fret G string also. But old DD is playing it around 7th fret D string. The
clip is totally awesome, its from an Ed Sullivan show appearance. Don't
worry about the first 20 seconds of singing (although he does a pretty good
job at this too). He soon gets down to work.

Wow! I loved seeing that clip!!!!
Unfortunately I only have dial-up (need I say more?).
I once read an interview, or something like that, with Dick Dale. Mr.
Dale stated that he created those guitar sounds to emulate what he
experienced while surfing--either catching the wave, riding the wave, or
getting the white wash, it was the sounds that he felt captured the moods
of the ocean. That's neat to me.
First, I'm no musician. The extent of my playing was a garage band in
the 80s. So I'm no expert, but that double picking method has been
around for quite some time. I have rondalla music (stringed instrument)
in which they play that style. I have cds of music of the Philippines,
which had Spanish influence for over 400 years. You can definitely hear
it in the music.
Thanks for the great clip--I've just watched it 10 times in the past half
and hour.
Sincerely,
Kristena
