Les Fradkin- A Bit of Promo

Leslie Fradkin (trackbytrack) - 13 Jun 2004 12:58:03

Dear Surf Music Fans,
As a member of this group, I wanted to take this opportunity to let you
know that my two new surf CD's
(both are 24 bit remasters) are out!
Les Fradkin & Get Wet "Splash!"
and
Les Fradkin & Get Wet "A Day At The Beach"
Both these CD's feature guest appearances by Eddie Bertrand (Eddie &
The Showmen and The Belairs) who plays with me live. These live cuts
are bonus tracks which were recorded at Phil Dirt's KFJC "Spring Reverb
Concert" at Foothills Junior College in Los Altos Hills, California in
June 1999.
Both are available at:
Thanks for checking them out. You won't be disappointed!
Regards,
Les Fradkin
A Bit of PROMO/Info:
The Ventures endorse us and of course, some of you may know that I play
and endorse the
Wilson Bros. VM-65 Ventures model guitar.
On these albums, I play Fender Jazzmaster, Fender Jaguar, Mosrite
Ventures, Fender Stratocaster
and, of course, my Wilson Bros. Guitar. On "Splash!", I use a vintage
Fender Reverb tank.
Some of the covers I do are "Good Vibrations", "Apache" and "Bpmbora."
But the real story comes from the originals which had 230,000 downloads
and scored 16 #1 mp3.com hit singles from 1999-2001.
Included are "Body Surfin'", "Surfin' The Classics, Parts 1 & 2" and
"Reverbia." All of those were #1 at mp3.com.
Robert Silverstein of 20th Century Guitar Magazine has reviewed these
CD's in the new June issue:
"LES FRADKIN
A Day At The Beach
Splash!
(RRO)
The story is a legendary and well known tale among ‘60s guitar
aficiandos. England had The Shadows, who unfortunately never had a hit
in the U.S.A. and, like everybody had an ocean, America had The
Ventures, who may have pre-dated The Beach Boys but in contrast
actually arrived after the pioneering guitar innovations of Les Paul,
Duane Eddy and Link Wray. Five decades later, few guitarists are
capable of combining the spirits of both the classic West Coast
surf-rock Ventures sound and the Euro-tinged guitar instrumental sound
of The Shadows better than guitar protagonist Les Fradkin. Well kids,
it’s 2004 but it's Surf’s Up again! In reality, 40+ years after the
genre’s mid ‘60s breakthroughs, Fradkin and his band, Get Wet is that
and a whole lot more. Just in time for Summer, 2004 Fradkin reissued
the first two Get Wet albums—Splash! (from 1999) and A Day At The Beach
(2001)—on his own RRO Records. Although both albums were huge hits on
mwe3.com and were first released on CDR, Fradkin has beefed up both
releases with 24-bit remastering, splendid new art work and and live
bonus tracks featuring Fradkin performing live in California along side
legendary Eddie & The Showmen guitarist Eddie Bertrand and the hot
rhythm  section of Tim MacDongall (bass), Peter G. (drums). The new
remastering and colorful new artwork helps these already great albums
sound  and look even better, making both essential listening for fans
of surf-rock instro and symphonic hard rock instrumental sound.

Davie Allan's reaction:
"Regarding the CDs I just received: Amazing playing. Great idea and
execution on the "classics" medleys. He may not be aware but I heard a
few references to my 60's recordings in there."
I'm featured in a new interview about these CD's in the June issue of
"Pipeline Magazine".
Phil Dirt is especially fond of "Splash!" and likes "A Day At The
Beach" as well.
