Dick Dale ripped it up at DOWNTOWN in FARMINGDALE Long Island last night !
I have witnessed him live a few times in recent years, but last night's up-close
performance was incendiary! ! I took some photos, if they come out, I will
pass them along......
I love how the show starts with DD ripping away off-stage .... and entering the
proceedings as the music is underway -- very cool, very dramatic
His 3-piece band was totally tight, rarely, if ever, missing a beat
The sound levels were terrific too -- whoever is mixing his live shows is
totally on top of his game
I have been reading at the Yahoo groups about some of his nasty comments about
women -- I can report he didn't "go there" a lot last night; though there was a
moment early on as he ran the neck of guitar hard against his amp until it cried
out with screeching reverb, which he followed up with a somewhat classless
comment, "that's how I treat my women !" Hey Ladies-Form a Double Line !!
He's irresistible !!
But that bullshit aside, the music was rockin', the pacing just right
I won't critique each song -- as I will leave that to those who can ID the
nuances of the set better than I
Being 52 years of age myself, it's always welcome to have someone older in the
room at a rock n roll event (especially when that person is on stage!)
If you are within range of catching DICK DALE live on this tourm I highly urge
you to do so !!

I had a chance to catch him when he played in Denver Co May 8th. it
was a totaly killer show. he did make some comments about women there
as well, but the women at the concert seemed to go nuts when he said
them. I got to talk to him briefly after the concert during his
autograph session, hes a pretty cool guy, a bit of a big ego but then
again what sucessful musician dosent have one lol. oveall I think he's
a pretty kick ass dude.
