Poll results for SurfGuitar101

Marty Tippens (mctippens) - 14 Nov 2005 16:22:51

Now the question is...Is there a certain age group that is more apt to respond
to polls in general? For example, it could be in actuality that there are more
SG101 members in the 41-50 or 51 - 60 age groups but they just don't have as
much time to respond to polls being in professional occupations. Others in those
age ranges may not have respond because they grew up in the "stick it to the
man" era. There are other possibilities for under-representation of other age
groups. We can't assume that this under-representation evens out across all
groups. The point is that I think the question of demographics cannot be
accurately determined from a voluntary poll. The info would be more reliably
determined (though still not perfect) through a census.

Marty:
you are absolutely correct...voluntary polls depend
entirely upon "willingness to take a poll" factor...
therefore,I think SG101 should have a mandatory
census...every ten years...
take our test, or else!

final results:
POLL QUESTION: a poll trying to figure out how (un)reliable Fender RI reverb
tanks actually are:
please note that there are three sets of questions, 1-3 on reliabilty, 4-6 on
noisyness, and 7-9 on the cause of trouble.
in the 4th part of the poll, 10-15, you can say how many boxes you ticked - i'm
guessing I'll need this later on to establich how many tanks we're talking
about, since it's a multi-answer poll.
THE POLL:
I own/have owned a Fender RI reverb tank and ...
(please answer apart from cap jobs and tube upgrades)
CHOICES AND RESULTS
- it never gave me any trouble! , 12 votes, 29.27%
- it needed tech work on more then one occasion, 2 votes, 4.88%
- it needed tech work once, but after that it's always been fine, 1 votes, 2.44%
- it's not noisy nor picks up radio , 9 votes, 21.95%
- it's noisy and/or picks up radio , 2 votes, 4.88%
- it was noisy but after extra shielding it was okay, 0 votes, 0.00%
- technical malfunctions I encountered had to do with the reverb tray, 0 votes,
0.00%
- technical malfunctions I encountered had to do with the circuitboard, 1 votes,
2.44%
- technical malfunctions I encountered had to do with other parts (inputs, pots,
tube sockets etc) , 1 votes, 2.44%
- I ticked 1 box (excluding this one), 3 votes, 7.32%
- I ticked 2 box (excluding this one), 9 votes, 21.95%
- I ticked 3 box (excluding this one), 1 votes, 2.44%
- I ticked 4 box (excluding this one), 0 votes, 0.00%
- I ticked 5 box (excluding this one), 0 votes, 0.00%

I just closed this poll on the reliability of RI tanks. considering
the results and my recent succes in building a simplified showman
from scratch, I decided NOT to get a Fender RI, but to order a Weber
kit and build it myself. future succeses and failures will be
reported.
If anyone's intersting I'll post an account of my showman-project,
which was a rather bumpy ride ;-)
