Looks like they're gone from MF...

Phil,
I was thinking the same. The Jazzmasters were $499 and then they
knocked the price down to $399 right before they ran out. Hopefully
we will see the same with the Jags.

I got mine, a CAR JM from GuitarTrader.com, a few days
ago. I played it for about 10 minutes before deciding
to wait till I had time to change the strings. After
adding a set of Fender Flats, I'm much happier with
it. It does definately sounds like a Jazzmaster with
the stock electronics, but I am still planning on
replacing the pickups with AVs or SDs at some point.
It has JM tone now, but just not enough for a toneslut
like myself. The lead channel gets close, but the
rhythm channel doesn't sound right to me.
The fit & finish isn't bad, but it isn't perfect
either. Nobody's going to mistake which guitar is the
AV reissue and which one's the CIJ. Still, I'm
extremely happy with the value. I considered one at
$700, but didn't wait long at $500. (Of course the
next day those MFs at MF drop the price to $400.)

If it's within 30 days, you should have had MF refund the difference.
They price match themselves as well.

See, that's perfect for me. There's no way I'd be able to afford a
"real" JM/Jag but at this price I can get close.

I thought the Jazzmasters were 699 marked down to 399. Anyways, I'm happy to
have mine on the way as I do see they ain't listed anymore. I just got a cheepy
tweed case at Guitar Center (59 clams PT). It's actually of good quality but not
great quality like those Fender G&G tweed cases.

The joke is on me! I just tried that cheepy tweed case with a Jazzmaster and it
no fit. Oh well, now lets see, I should have a Mexi strat in a gig bag that will
fit in that case.

These cheap Jazz and Jags are killing me. It sucks being left handed.
Marty, I went through the case problem last year with a JM I bought from
Ishibashi. I looked high and low and the only thing I found that fit was a
generic bass case. If I'm in that position again, I'll go for the $129 case
from Fender.

Marty, I went through the case problem last year with a JM I bought from
Ishibashi. I looked high and low and the only thing I found that fit was a
generic bass case. If I'm in that position again, I'll go for the $129 case
from Fender.
