Well, I must say I'm not a huge fan of their Frat rock and Garage
meanderings(sp?) But when they do those type of songs it is very fun,
and the crowd really gets into it. I was also a little disapointed
that they didn't play longer then 45 minutes(roundabout-but they
were not the headliners, that would be the Satan's Cheerleaders.
They did do a few rippin instros though, and I'm glad I went to
go see the show all the same. Besides Ms. Kay. I think there weren't
any other cow/rev/surf fans there from the lists. But man o man it
was a who's who of surf celbrities.
Of courese 3 of the Dynotones were there.
Chris Barfield and Len Curiel X of the Huntington Cads
Brent from Del Noah and the Mt.Arrarat Finks-you guys still playing?
1 or 2 of the dudes from the Bomboras, now-"The Now"
Benny the Drummer from the Volcanics- singer for the Satisfaction
And his buddy Arutimus who used to be in the Countdowns from Arizona
with.
The Bass Player (forget his name) who used to be in the Ghastly Ones
Jelly Bean from Jackie and the Cedricks, and his Wife who's in the
Go-Devils.
and probably a few I'm forgeting or didn't know about.
There must not have been a LA show for the Phantom Surfers,
because I've never seen so many of the underground LA surf/garage
sceen down in O.C. before.
Sadly to say I got there a bit late and Missed the South Bay
Surfers(old dudes who don't really play surf). But the review was
they we're horrible and I didn't miss anything.
The one other band on the Bill was a Garage band called the Bippies
that Russle(drummer from Phantom Surfers) shares Vocal duties
with a chick in. Good fun stuff for that style of Music.
Really Disappointed at the lack of support from the Fans on the
Board, it seems to be getting worse and worse.
