I've heard that. The CD reissues do not have the crude "proto-tab"
booklets. I remember hearing that you could still buy the booklets
from a company in England, but never followed up on that.

Hell, forget the booklets. Where did you find the CDS?

If it turns out that nobody is selling the booklets anymore, would it be
ok for someone who has the book to flatbed scan it and post it? I've
been trying to find a copy of the book myself, for quite a while, now.
I was really annoyed when I found out the CD release was incomplete.

"Hell, forget the booklets. Where did you find the CDS?"
Hi,
I know it was posted here before, but there is a Russian site called "Go
With the Ventures" that has all Ventures records on sound files,
including "Play With the Ventures" No tabs, but the sounds. I learned
playing "Pipeline" and a few others by playing along with these sound
files.
Just click on the tittle of the album you want to hear. You can't
download any of the songs, but you can listen to them a gazzillion
times.

When I heard about these cds on an an earlier post I started searching the
web for info and came accross a site that had a huge amount of Ventures
information including sound files for the Play with the Ventures records
(not sure of the format but they played fine on my computer). I dont know if
they are complete but the link is...
Unfortunately I could fine no sign of the charts though (I assume maybe they
got the samples from the cd?) but I would be very interested in getting a
copy of those too.

Jason,
I bought the CD of all the PGWTV Albums not noticing there were no
diagrams. I did, however find a book (it looks more like a pamphlet)
with everything that goes with the albums. My only complaint was
thew printing was too small. It cost around $15.00 after shipping.
This is the info you'll need:
Magpie Direct Music Ltd.
VENTBOOK : Play Guitar With The Ventures : VENTURES : BOOK : £4.99
Hang 10!

Sorry, didn't mean to imply I had the CD's...I remember they were reissued
on CD by a company in the UK (?) but am not completely certain of that. Last
time I looked you could order them from a number of places including
Amazon.com.

I have the booklet...got it from Magpie. It has "guitarphonics," an
archaic proto-tablature that is next to useless. It was meant to teach
kids to play by ear. It's like reading some ancient and unfathomable
mathematic language. An example: Walk Don't Run, intro phrase: 1 2 3 4
5 6 1 7 8 2 9 (see fret diagram for note locations). Aarrgh!
A guy named Kevin Gardner tabbed the songs using the booklet, and that
makes it much easier. He even tells you when the "Play Guitar" version
of a song differs from another recording by The Ventures!
You might search for Kevin Gardner's Ventures web site for the tabs
and skip the book. Or, I could sell you mine...!!! (Forget everything
I just said, a monkey could play guitar using this book!)

Amazon never has the rare Ventures stuff anymore, you have to wait
weeks for it and pay alot.
