Hey kids!
Got a Fender Squire Strat for Christmas. It came with light guage strings.
I broke one of them last night while recording a song--ack!
Anyhoo, I've never broken a string before--I've ALWAYS used heavy guage
strings in the past, and I'm ASSUMING that they're sturdier. But the
fast double-picking technique ain't none too good on them lightweights,
as they say.
My question: How heavy a guage can I utilize on a Fender Squire Strat?
This is a brand new one, and is one of the cheapies made in China. I'm
not a fan of the light guage string, let me tell you.
Thanks!
Vincent
Hi Vince,
Well I assume you can easily put up some rounds 0.10 without having to
adjust the tusse rod on the Squier Strat. You might have to tweak the
springs of the trem a bit.
I you want to put flats on the Squier, you will need to adjust the tuss
rod. And put one or two extra springs in the trem. (The Squier has three
springs stock)
IMHO the Squier necks aren't that bad and should be able to take heavy
strings, however I always felt that the trem on these guitars is a bit
cheap and since the come with a 0.09 factory setup.
If you want to put heavy strings on the Squier, I'd suggest to put the
extra spring in the trem.
