Ok I've broken two high e strings on my Jazzmaster this week. Also I
can tell right before they break because they drop in pitch and start
to unravel at the string end in the tailpiece. I'm Daddario Chromes,
this seems odd to be a coincidence. Any suggestions?
Regards,
Bill
Not sure what you mean by 'unravel' with the high e. with wound
strings, the winding can break first, then starts to unravel in the
strings core breaks (or not, but the string is gone anyway.)
does 'unravel' mean the ball end comes off? we had a thead about that
happening to Chromes a while ago, just search the archives.
After that thread, and based on advice on this list, i switched to
the pyramids mentioned before (since i am in Europe these are cheaper
as well).
I started using 'nut sauce'(recommended by Dave Wronski) at the same
time, and i must say it's a winning combination. I'm not sure whether
its the strings or the sauce, but i didn't break a string since ( and
i am not a light player) and have to tune only once or twice in a
three hour rehearsal, on a squier strat. highly recommend both the
strings and the sauce.
