Ventures tribute bnd name?

gcm19482002 - 03 Feb 2004 12:53:24

We have a new Ventures tribute band and are having problems coming up
with a name that we all like. The name should clue people in as to
what we're doing. I thought the name of a Ventures song would be a
good way to go, so I suggested "Underground Fire", the title of one
of their albums, and also the name of an online fan club. One of my
guys doesn't like the name, he says it sound too "goth." Anybody???

Greg,
Whassup? Bill here, the rhythm guitar player for the-band-that-may-
soon-be-called-Undergound-Fire. I like the name UF (cool logos,
backdrops and exploding volcanos on stage), and I get the V.
reference. Does anyone see how UF could be misinterpereted by the
uninitiated on a clubs marquee? UF is better than "Cherries
Jubilee", "Peach Fuzz" or "Love Shower" though. I posed this same
question on the NESMAsurf site too.

My friends and I are putting together a Ramones cover
band. We're calling ourselves "53rd and 3rd", which
nobody else is using, at least not to my knowledge.
What I'd do is go through every Ventures album you've
got and a pick a song-title or come up with a clever
play on a song-title, like the name you already came
up with, or The Driving Guitars, or something like
that.

U2 has an album called Unforgettable Fire. If you're not a Ventures fan you
might confuse the two phrases (maybe thats why one of your guys thinks it sounds
Goth).
good luck with your band. Where are you located?

How 'bout 'SurFire'?
I know there's no sure fire answer to anything

If you're all bigger guys, The Heavies would work nicely. It's
probably taken already, though.
