Cool new Twin!!

obmosquito - 27 Jan 2004 10:16:48

If it only had PTP wiring it would be perfect.
I'd definitely opt for it over the standard Twin RI though...

Cool...I think Dave Wronski mentioned that this was coming a while
back. Maybe this is the closest that we will get to a Showman
reissue? It doesn't seem likely that Fender would reissue piggy back
amps.
BTW, which Weber speaker is supposed to be most like the JBL D130F?
The California series?

So why is it still called a Twin? Showman would be a lot closer because of
the speaker, but Twin probably has better name recognition.

It beats "Uni-Reverb"
Of course, they could have called it a Vibrosonic.

They should call it what it is.... a Vibrosonic Reverb...
You can still buy 70's Vibrosonics for reasonable prices....Twin
chassis, 15" JBL D130F... mmmmm, surfy!

I think that's what Ivan was playing on tour with The Space Cossacks, IIRC
from the old posts.
Actualy, I think the Vibrosonic had a baffle that had a slot in it, with the
speaker offest to one side.

Yeah, the Vibrasonic, I forgot about that one...a much better name than a
single speaker "Twin".
I belive Ivan played a "Custom" Vibrasonic, which was a mid-90's version of
the Vibrasonic. I believe it was aimed at steel guitar players, or anyone
who wanted loud and clean. I don't think that one lasted very long.

I use a 1961 Fender Vibrasonic with the offset 15" speaker in it.
It's a pretty amazing surfy amp when combined with a reverb tank.
The tremolo is butter smooth. All the lead parts on our soon to be
released CD were recorded through it.
