Well I have the opportunity to finally own a Showman. This shop has a
Dual Showman with the Dual 15" cab or the Showman Amp with a single
15" cab. They are both the blackface models too. So..........which
one should I get? I'm really considering the Showman Amp because it's
not as huge.I'm wondering if it has enough punch for a single 15"
speaker? We play mainly small venues around town, but will this amp
hold it's own in bigger events? I've never played a Showman, I'm used
to playing through a RI 65 Twin, Am I going to notice a difference?
Or............should I get the (Big Kahuna)the Dual Shownan? Man I
can't imagine lugging that beast around to practice every week. Well,
I'm driving up to the shop on Thurs. any feedback is greatly
appreciated!Thanks, Landlocked in TX-Phillip
I used a Dual Showman with The Woodies for a long time with a pair of
12" JBL'S and later switched to a 2x15 cab. Dave Mangiante only ever
used a Showman with a 2x15 cab.

ok.. but the one thing i can say is.. do you have a truck or a car?
& do you have roadies?
seriously, I have a 2 x 15 inch bass cab sitting in my living room.
its a semi permanent fixture there, as it wont fit in my car and i
sure as heck cant tug it up the stairs here. when it lays on its
side its a nice sort of sturdy, hard seat. It sounds really nice but
its very very very heavy. has a closed back and baffles inside and
heavy JBL speakers.
so i use my 2 x 12" amp instead.
If you are actually aware of the size and weight of these things, and
it doesn't matter to you, then the choice about which to use is just
up to you.
which sounds better to your ears? I think either could probably
handle anywhere you'd want to play, so it comes down to your own ears
and tastes. I wouldn't buy something to suit anyone's ears but mine,
because you could buy something someone else loves but you might not
be happy with it, ya know?
anyway, thats my 2 cents.

As for the Showman, hauling it around with the 15's are a pain for
sure. My shelf I mainly play a Fender CyberTwin these days. However
if the point is to shake peoples clothes off then to me the Showman
is a baseball bat with tubes.

From someone who's been lugging showmans around for 20+ years, I'd lean
towards the single 15". You're still going to be able to be too loud
99% of the time. My main amp now is a single 15". I got tired of
lugging a 2x15 a long time ago.
That being said, if those were my 2 choices, I'd still pick the one
that sounded best.
Also, if you're keeping your Twin, you can drag that to practice
instead of a 2x15.
