I've been wanting a Jazzmaster for sometime now however I will miss
the snap and bite that my Stratocaster has. Too bad I can't use my
telecaster for surf or my problems would be solved. Upon seeing the
Straitjackets last month my opinion on the Dipinto Galaxie has
changed drastically.
So my question to you owners is...are the Galaxie's more twangy than
the Jazzmasters? I know the Jazzmaster is a more mellow guitar than
the Strat and Tele. Does the Galaxie fall somewhere in between?
Regards,
Bill
Bill,
Here's my 2 DiPinto cents. I have a DiPinto Galaxie and I like the sound. I
don't have a Jazzmaster to compare sound. The DiPinto fell out of favor (long
technical story). So missing the DiPinto "bite" I would call it, I swapped the
bridge DiPinto pick-up into a Strat. bridge. They are Strat shaped pick-ups
with squared covers. The Strat doesn't sound exactly like the DiPinto, but its
close. Must be that J style tremelo. The Strat is now guitar #1 for surf. That
middle pick-up on the Strat. keeps getting in the way for tremelo picking on
songs like Miserlu, though.

Thanks Bill,
I went and bought a Jazzmaster anyway. For $590.00 at Musicians
Friend including shipping. I really can't afford this lol but it
seemed like a sweet deal

Bill
