SMOASP

lariverboy - 06 Jan 2004 22:26:30

Hi Brian,
Your timing is funny 'cause I just listened to Sport Fishing for the first
time in ages. I think the band really had a grip on twangy instrumentals. Their
use of the organ was critical too. I saw them live oooooh sooo long ago. Great
band.

Through entirely unexpected circumstances at Christmas, I now find myself
owning all the CD's from SMOASP. I've heard their stuff before, and always
liked what I heard, but never sought any of it out. I think I made a
mistake. My wife is already learning Spy School Graduation Theme. Big Link
Wray style chords with Duane Eddy'ish twang with lots of atmosphere and
vibe. Its not surf, as they vehemently state in the song "Were Not a F******
Surf Band", but surf fans will dig this. I haven't listened to it all yet,
but what do others think? Any particular songs I should listen to first?
Thanks (just trying to get some discussion going again...)
