I was just listening to my "Shots in the Dark" Mancini Tribute cd on
Del-Fi. And thinking it was probably one of my favorite tribute cd's.
It's not perfect all the way through, but I really like the way
Mancini's songs translate into a rock/or jazz combo.
So I thought I would ask, what is everyone's favorite instro/surf
tribute cd.
1. Shot's in the Dark(Mancini)
2. Surfin' Seniorita(Herb Albert)
3. Evening in Nivram(Shadows)
4. Swingin' Creepers(Ventures)
5. What's New Pussycat?(Bacarach)
6. Think Link vol.1 or 2(Link Wray)
7. Dickheads(Dick Dale)
8. Takin' Out The Trash(Trashmen)
9. Better Than Your Average Weekend(Shadowy Men on A Shadowy Planet)
10.Chinese Checkers(Booker T and the MG's)
Let me know if there were any I missed.
And What tribute cd would you like to see released.
I know people mentioned have Mentioned Belairs and Lively Ones
before, but would there be enough good songs to cover from those
bands. How about a Davie Allen tribute, or would it not have enough
interest?
Let see what you all have to say.
Jeff(bigtikidude)
Not necessarily my favorite, but kind of fun is:
"wouldn't it be nice" (Brian Wilson/Beach Boys - jazz)
I like the idea of surf tributes to non-instro bands. In that vein, I
would love to see a surf tribute to: Chicago or Dire Straits.
