Dipinto Galaxy & Dick Dale Strat

maui6120w - 16 Dec 2003 19:09:15

I for one thought the Dick Dale Strat you put together sounded great
the other night through the Showman. Something you forgot to mention
was the beautiful gold metal flake paint job you put on it.
As for the Dipinto Galaxie , I have one , the Daddy-o-grande
model.The one with the 4 red pick-up switches.First of all I would
not even compare it to a Jazzmaster or Jag. Its kind of off on its
own.The pick-ups sound good with 1 or 2 on but if you turn any more
than that on it king of gets muddy.Jazzmaster style trem is really
good. The guitar is always in tune.A couple of minor drawbacks:With 4
pickups sometimes I hit them with my pick and the bridge is a
Rickenbacker style. It has a cover over the strings that makes it hard
to mute.Other than that, the guitar is really quite beautiful and put
together really well for the money.I also Have a Dipinto Belvedere
with a bigsby.I like it better.Los Straitjackets played Belvederes in
Las Vegas at the Rockaround back in September.Mine is blue but they
had beautiful gold and black ones . I would recommend either one of
these guitars for surf music........................Maui

Maui knows what he is talking about in regards to the DiPinto
Galaxie. Definately a cool guitar with it's own unique voice. You
can tell it's a quality guitar the first time you hold it. They are
almost too pretty to play....Almost. Maui has a surf guitar
collection that is out of this world. If there is a cool guitar, he
probably has one.

Thanks to all who replied.
Is it worth the extra cash to get the red rocker switches, as opposed
to the 5-way?
Much obliged,
rio
