Hey everybody, i just got a danelectro hodad for an early christmas,
this thing is RREAALY cool. But i have some questions for you hodad
owners out there... First off being what do you normally string it
with? i think it came with 46's from the factory and since this thing
hasnt been touched since then it hasnt had any other strings on it.
Also, since this is my first experience whith a bigsby style tremelo,
is there any adjusting involved when putting heavier strings on it?
Also when i turn it up loud i think the pickups are a bit
microphonic, is there an easy fix for that?
hey skata:
I love my Hodad too. The pickups are microphonic...nature
of the lipstick tube. I suppose you could dip them in
beeswax/parrafin...but I'd just leave them alone. I have
used 054 strings on mine...currently I am running chrome
flatwounds, but I also run GHS round wounds on occassion.
No special adjustment for the Bigsby tremolo, just make
sure all the screws are snug, and you might want to lube it
with a drop of 3-in-1 oil..
the Hodad is a trooper!
good luck,
dp
