Hi y'all
I'm here courtesy of Brian Neal's post on the "Jaguars & Jazzmasters"
forum at the Fender Discussion Page (www.fenderforum.com). One of a
growing number, I see ;-)
I play lead guitar in a basement surf band. We call ourselves "The
Blue Surf Quartet". We've actually (ahem) ventured out of the
basement one time for a backyard party here in rural Maryland. A
great time was had by all. I look forward to playing out "for real"
someday. Practice, practice!
Our material ranges from the old standbys (Pipeline, Moment of Truth,
Baja) to the some of the more obscure covers (Galaxy Trio's "Korla's
Headgear", Polaris! "Brylcreme Pillow") plus a couple of original
tunes.
I switch between a CIJ reissue Jag (in Candy Apple Red) and an
EMG-equipped '86 MIJ Strat, both through a vintage BF Twin. I also
run the Strat though a TS-7 Tubescreamer for the tunes that demand
distortion. Jenny, our rhythm guitar plays a CIJ Jag (in sunburst) or
a vintage Bronco through a reissue Ampeg Reverberocket. Batty, the
drummer has an eclectic assortment consisting mostly of vintage Ludwig
stuff and Ralph the bassist plays a customized P-Bass clone through
I'm-not-sure-what-kinda-amp with slapback added via a Dano BLT.
Anyhow, I look forward to discussion of my favorite music here.
Mark
